Vintage No. 01: Best Wine Bars in NWA

by Bethany Stephens

Welcome to the monthly drop of my personal favorite spots in Northwest Arkansas. From wine bars to the best patios and brunch spots, these are the places I frequent with my people. Enjoy!

This month we're focusing on the best spots for a glass of wine. Yes, you can order a glass of wine just about anywhere... but what I care about is a stellar experience, a unique and interesting environment or a distinct pour. Here are my favorites:

  • Ashleigh Wine Lounge (Rogers): a newer addition in the Pinnacle area, this spot has a modern vibe and a great wine list, plus lots of tastings and events. It's in a rapidly-evolving spot near great dining (Un Deux Trois cafe, the largest Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in the U.S.)

  • Bar Cleeta (Bentonville): my end all, be all, absolute favorite go-to spot. Love the food, the wine, the people, the vibe. This is one of our favorite spots to sit at the bar and enjoy unique wines by the glass or bottle. Everything is handpicked and fantastic, so just let them guide you. And pair anything you sip with the tarte forestiere (my favorite) or the bone marrow (says my meat enthusiast partner).

  • Langman Winery & Restaurant (Centerton): a newer addition to the scene, Langman produces additive-free Italian-style wines in California and pours in their Arkansas tasting room, which is a fun experience with a group paired with their nibbles and small plates.

  • Muselet Champagne Bar (Bentonville): this is such a distinct experience, must add to your wine tour! Plan ahead to go at the beginning or end of the night for a "bong and a bump," aka a champagne shooter and a fist-top serving of caviar. Their late night eats are great, and it's a festive, intimate spot for a small group with a great array of bubbly and other beverages.

  • Ramo d'Olivo (Bentonville): my tried and true wine bar. Excellent patio, an on-site olive oil and vinegar shop (try the lemongrass balsamic), great small plates (like caprese bites, an excellent olive selection and other perfect wine pairings). Some of my favorites here are the Big Red Monster and the dry rosé.

  • Sassafras Springs Vineyard & Winery (Springdale): this gorgeous location is well worth the drive for a leisurely afternoon of wine tasting and pizza on their covered patio overlooking scenic grounds (and a beautiful wedding and event venue). Check out their Wednesday night happy hour for half off pizza with the purchase of wine.

On my list to visit:

  • The Cellar on B Street (Bentonville), a boutique wine & specialty foods shop offering curated wine experiences, pop-up events and a wine club.
  • Hotel Vin (Rogers), the soon-to-open Autograph collection boutique hotel with rooftop bar, poolside cabanas, wine tastings and a speakeasy.
  • Urban Cellars Winery (Fayetteville): I can't wait to check out the tastings and bottling experience here (having tried and loved their wine at Hardwater Cocktail Room).
